All about Falken Tire Company
Ohtsu Tire owns Falken Tire, an international tire brand based in Japan. Falken produced its first tire in 1983 and began exporting internationally. Falken Tire’s vision is to maintain a commitment to advancing technological achievements through innovative products that are environmentally conscious. Falken believes that sound business practices will lead to successful partners who will be able to lead others.
Falken tires have some of the newest models on the market. The tire manufacturer has quickly established a customer base within the motorsports community, but is Falken worthwhile for the everyday driver?
Falken differentiates itself from other premium tire manufacturers by providing mileage warranties in various tire sizes and models. These warranties cover a wide range of products, from fourteen-inch tires to twenty-six-inch tires, from touring performance to numerous all-season tires.
Falken Tire is well-known for its international drift team and American Le Mans Series racing contributions. Falken not only has a large selection of tires, but they also have a designer wheel collection. On their website, Falken currently provides the most up-to-date tire and wheel application guide for hundreds of vehicles. They offer a wide tire selection with applications for 95% of all passenger vehicles on the road today.
Falken Tires Industry Ratings
Falken claims tire scores based on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s evaluation system (NHTSA). This system is known as Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG), and it grades tires based on treadwear, traction, and temperature resistance (except for specialized tires).
This grade estimates the longevity of your tires. To calculate treadwear, tires are measured against a control tire given a rating of 100. A tire with a 500 treadwear rating lasts five times longer than the control. Most passenger tires have between a 300 and 500 treadwear rating,
This rating is based on how efficiently your tires “grip” a wet road. Traction is graded on a scale of AA, A, B, or C. A rating is typically assigned to good all-purpose passenger tires.
This grade evaluates a tire’s heat resistance on a scale of A, B, or C. Tires need to withstand different temperatures based on their specialization. High-performance tires, for example, usually move at much higher speeds than an all-season tire and, in turn, have higher temperature ratings.
